A paternity test is the most accurate method available today to determine a biological relationship between alleged parents and a child. Normally the paternity test is applied to confirm the relationship between the father and the child, although the same DNA test can also be applied to the alleged Mother through a Maternity Test. The test is normally performed between the Mother, Father and Child. However, it is possible to do the test without the sample of the mother. The reliability of the results still stands.

Once you place your order, easyDNA will send you a DNA test kit which includes all you need to perform your DNA test. The price you pay also includes the analysis of the samples and the issue of the DNA test result confirm the status of the relationship. Collecting the DNA samples is very easy and straightforward. It is also painless since the oral swabs just need to be rubbed on the inside of the mouth.

Your DNA test results will confirm if the father is related with a probability of paternity of up to 99.99999%. The exclusion will be 100% accurate giving a probability of paternity of 0%. All DNA test results will be sent via email unless otherwise requested.

How does a DNA Paternity Test work?

The biological Mother and Father give half their DNA to the child. The DNA profiles are then compared to confirm if the alleged father is the biological father of the child. The analysis is based on the analysis of 16 genetic markers to provide the required reliability. If the alleged father is confirmed as the father, then the loci analysed will match in all locations and he will be included as the father. The probability of paternity can be in excess of 99.9999+% when we also include the sample of the mother in the testing. If the tested man is not the father, then the exclusion will be 100% returning a probability of paternity of 0%.

Can my test be used in Court?

There is a distinction between a legal and a standard paternity test. The legal test will require the collection of samples using strict chain of custody guidelines. The samples will need to be collected by a medical practitioner who will be responsible for verifying the identity of the persons tested and handling the sample collection process including sending the samples.
The actual result of the DNA test will not vary between the two tests since we are using the same analysis methodology. What changes is the sample collection process. The standard or peace of mind paternity test cannot be normally used in a court of law.
